Unwavering Champions for Children, Teens, & Families

UMFS is a child and family serving nonprofit dedicated to building stronger communities throughout Virginia. We offer a range of essential services, including foster care, residential treatment, private day school, and various community-based programs.

Become a Foster Parent

Every year, teens exit the foster care system without a permanent family or the experiences needed to easily navigate adulthood. Your choice to become a foster parent will be the most rewarding and sometimes challenging decision you make to improve the lives of our children and teens.

Make a Difference Today

Your donation provides critical support for children in foster care, adoptive families, children struggling with mental health challenges, and provides specialized education for children struggling with behavioral and developmental challenges.

How You Can Help

Become a Foster Parent

As a foster parent, you will use your life experiences to help a child or teen experience a safe and stable family setting, develop community connections, and transition to a permanent family placement.

Volunteer With Us

Volunteers are a vital part of the UMFS community. Volunteers bring joy by providing supplies to celebrate birthdays, purchase books and goodies to welcome students back to the classroom, bring meals to families in times of crisis, and so much more.

Make a Donation

Your donation will deliver critical support for children in foster care and help children struggling with mental health challenges to heal. Your generous gift will provide specialized education for children struggling with behavioral challenges.

Where You Can Find Us
