Now We’re Cookin’

Residents at the UMFS Child & Family Healing Center kicked off their spring break on Sunday, April 4, with a spring bake-off! The featured delicacy? Scratch-made chocolate chip cookies, which were so delicious and were devoured so quickly by staff judges and youth that no one had a chance to snap a photo. But ahead of their culinary clash, the talented youth did snap some pictures of their aprons, which they decorated and personalized.

Dani, the UMFS Business Development Representative, longtime UMFS unwavering champion (and cookie-creator extraordinaire!), helped coordinate the event, which gave several of the residents a chance to incorporate skills they acquired in their culinary arts classes at Charterhouse School.

“It was lot of fun to see them use their knowledge from class in the activity,” Dani said. “What better way to start spring break than a friendly bake-off between two of the cottages? Off-campus activities have been cancelled because of coronavirus, and this was something all the youth agreed they wanted to do on campus.”
