Charterhouse Edinburg is seeking a full time Health & PE Teacher for the 2017-2018 academic year.


Provide instruction and implementation of lesson plans for Health and Physical Education to students.  Develop curriculum aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning. Work directly with school staff and recreation staff for program support.

Conduct lessons for physical education throughout the school day using outside playing fields, swimming pool, Ropes and gym.

Use a variety of methodologies, focusing on different approaches to learning, critical and reflective thinking.

Expose students to a number of different teaching styles, such as formal teaching instruction, whole class activities, individual and group projects, oral presentations and inquiry-based projects.  Adapt curriculum for students on the autism spectrum and/or intellectual disabilities.

Deliver Health lessons in classroom setting aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning.

Maintain discipline in classroom by providing behavior support and therapeutic interventions; reinforces                     rules of the school and physical education class for ongoing safety.

Assist with ordering, purchasing and selecting materials and equipment for program implementation as needed.

Provide First Aid and CPR instruction for UMFS and Charterhouse staff.

Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and CHS training workshops.

Provide CPR/First Aid Training for agency and train CHS/UMFS staff as needed for ongoing compliance.

Assist with the planning, organizing, and implementation of annual Field Day and Fall Games events each year.

Be knowledgeable of students rights and ensures student’s confidentiality. Provide an atmosphere of privacy, dignity, and well-being to all students in a safe, secure environment.

Participate in school activities outside regular hours, e.g., teacher-parent conferences, forums, marketing events, and prom.

Other duties may be assigned.



Experience teaching children with a variety of abilities physical education and health. Licensed to teach Health & PE in the state of Virginia.
