Golf outing FORE the kids

Yesterday a group of kids from our Child & Family Healing Center (CFHC) visited The First Tee Golf Facility in Richmond for an afternoon of golf. The trip marks the end of several weeks of instruction from Joe Torrence, UMFS’ minister of youth and church relations who happens to be an ace golfer :). “This group started because a couple of the residents at CFHC asked to learn more about golf because they wanted to get out and play together,” Joe explains. “The kids absolutely loved it.”

One of the kids said “we’ve learned a┬álot of stuff–what to use for each hole, what it’s called when you make it to the green. It’s been so much fun!” Another said that coming from where he comes from, “no one would ever believe {he is} on a golf course learning to play golf” and that he’s “lucky to have this awesome chance.”

Are you a golfer? If so, we’re still looking for three teams (foursomes) to play in our annual FORE the Kids golf tournament. We need to fill these spots in the next few days, so please sign up now.
