Foster Care Fairfax County, VA

Here at UMFS, it is our goal to empower every child to realize their potential with our comprehensive array of programs. We strive to help at-risk children in Virginia overcome their circumstances and successfully contribute to society. Our hope is to create a world where opportunity and generosity are passed down from generation to generation. After all, we are not just here to help children, but families and communities as well.

Treatment Foster Care Services

As opposed to simply “Foster Care,” children in Treatment Foster Care have experienced multiple moves or have emotional trauma. This is where UMFS shines in our ability to pair a child with the right family and parents. In addition, we offer Fairfax County parents 24/7 on-call support, local support groups, and individual strategies for each child in foster care.

UMFS’ Treatment Foster Care Program utilizes foster parents with specialized training to care for children, teens and sibling groups who have been in the foster care system for many years, had multiple placements and experienced the pain of being separated from their natural supports. Children and teens are referred to UMFS from a local department of social services because their needs cannot be met at the local department.

★★★★★

UMFS offers a first class experience in working with the foster care system. They provide excellent training, support, and trauma-informed care to work with children who need therapeutic foster care homes. They go above and beyond when you are faced with a crisis and are available 24/7 to help. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!!

Working for UMFS for the last 5 years has been a wonderful and inspiring experience. I’ve witnessed so many incredible stories of empowerment, support, and healing. It’s an honor to support the work of talented and passionate social workers, youth counselors, teachers, therapists, parent support partners, trainers, mentors, tutors, and foster/adoptive parents who relentlessly pursue solutions for children and families in need of assistance.
