We were thrilled to honor the hardworking staff at Charterhouse School-Edinburg yesterday. For five years, CHS-Edinburg has provided youth in the Shenandoah Valley with specialized education and innovative learning opportunities.
UMFS is committed to serving high-risk children and families, and it was our privilege to recognize the following unwavering champions. Celebrating one year with UMFS are Marsha Duncan, Hannah Foltz, Tammy Turner, Joseph Ward, and Gina Welch. Amy Bankert, Wade Richman (pictured at right), and Cynthia Whetzell each have been with the agency for two years.
A final service award was presented to CHS-Edinburg Principal Tonya Salley-Goodwin, who for 10 years has served UMFS in various positions. She’s been principal at Edinburg since its inception.
Greg Peters, UMFS President and CEO, credited Tonya for helping to fill the classrooms at CHS-Edinburg with care and compassion and thanked her for a decade of dedicated service.
Vice President of Education at UMFS, Wade Puryear, commended Tonya (pictured in lead photo and at left with Greg) for all that she’s done for UMFS.
“Me and Tonya go way back,” Wade said with a smile. The educators attended high school together at Bluestone in Mecklenburg County and previously were colleagues at St. Joseph’s Villa. “I knew when UMFS built this school it was going to be in very good hands.”
