At UMFS, we are unwavering champions for high-risk children and families, collaborating with communities to help them reach their full potential. Each month, we recognize one of our colleagues as the Unwavering Champion of the Month for going above and beyond in upholding our agency’s mission and values.
We’re pleased to announce our Unwavering Champion for January, Communications Specialist Nate Madden. Nate is our storyteller. He travels around the state to meet children and families whose lives have been transformed at UMFS. He asks great questions, listens carefully, takes beautiful photographs, and uses everything he learns to bring their stories to life. Nate’s stories honor the journey of the people he portrays, and they appreciate his work.
Nate helps bring UMFS to life for our donors, volunteers, and community partners. He also helps celebrate the hard work of fellow UMFS employees. Nate’s stories remind people how special their work is and how much of a difference they are making. As coworker Sara Barrille shared, “Nate is able to capture all of the beautiful moments.”
Nate writes and photographs the articles for the quarterly Champion newsletter, the UMFS blog, social media, and the Annual Report. Click here to read one of his favorites.
“Nate hit the ground running when he joined UMFS in September 2017. From the very beginning, you could see how much he cared,” said Nate’s manager, Jill Gaynor. “Nate is a very talented writer, but it’s his heart for the kids we serve that really shines through his stories and sets him apart.”
