Kids in foster care face a lot of challenges. One challenge that many people don’t know about is transportation. Securing transportation to required appointments can make a big difference in a child’s life.
Rose Teague has really enjoyed being a volunteer transport mentor at UMFS. Being a transport mentor provides a great opportunity to connect with kids. Rose often drives the same children, and she enjoys getting to know them. After learning about one child’s favorite singers, Rose created a custom playlist for their next journey together. “She was so excited,” shared Rose.
Rose encourages others to volunteer as well. “Being a transport mentor is not a huge commitment, but it really makes a difference.”
UMFS is currently seeking volunteers to serve as transport mentors across the state. Click here to sign up and learn more.
