UMFS Unwavering Champion Amera Ghanem

December 18, 2017

Each month, UMFS recognizes one of our employees as the Unwavering Champion of the Month. This award celebrates the UMFS mission and how our employees bring that mission to life. Our mission: UMFS is an unwavering champion for high-risk children and families, collaborating with communities to help them reach their full potential.

Our Unwavering Champion for December is Amera Ghanem, Resource Parent Trainer for the Southwest Region and member of the QI Council and Annual Giving Committee.

Amera joined UMFS three years ago as a Treatment Foster Care Social Worker. She began her work as a Resource Parent Trainer last year. As an RPT, Amera works with foster families in the South Hill area completing home studies, ensuring compliance, filing licensing paperwork and leading support groups.

“She is a natural leader and unwavering champion for high-risk children and families,” said Andrea Walker, Community Based Services Supervisor. “Amera continuously embraces the agency’s mission and values through collaboration, transparency and strength.”

From intake to recruitment, Amera has jumped at every opportunity to help. On one occasion, she even assisted a colleague from another region with an orientation.

“Amera stepped right in and led the orientation,” Andrea said. “When asked to complete a task, she takes it on without hesitation.”

Amera’s passion and love shine through in the work that she does, and her innate ability to think critically and outside the box makes her a valuable asset to UMFS and the Southwest Region.
