Employee Spotlight: Amy Bankert

For Teacher Appreciation week we’ve decided to share a little more information about one of our wonderful Charterhouse School – Edinburg teachers, Amy Bankert.

Amy received her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Virginia state teaching licensure from Longwood University in Farmville Virginia. After college she took a job as a developmental reading teacher for Harrisonburg City Public Schools. During the next 5 years she moved around within the school and taught everything from pre-k to fourth grade as well as supporting the Special Education and English as a Second Language teams. Amy also spent a year living in Cleveland Ohio teaching an after school program for at risk students.

After a short experience working in a residential facility Amy was inspired to work with students in a smaller day school setting with the hopes of supporting and guiding them on their way back to public school. Amy enjoys the small class sizes at Charterhouse and getting to know her students well. During her journey at Charterhouse School Edinburg Amy continuously comes up with creative ways to teach and make learning fun for her students. Amy is extremely invested in providing stability and support for her students and their families.

In her free time Amy enjoys spending time with her dog, George, hiking in the mountains, and taking care of horses. In the summer she works at an all girl’s summer camp teaching tennis and archery.
