Our story begins in 1900 when a charter was granted by the state legislature for the Virginia Annual Conference Orphanage. Since then we’ve been through a few name changes, added services and changed others to meet the needs of our children but one thing remains the same—we serve with our hearts and our expertise. We have touched the lives of tens of thousands of children in Virginia and though our history is rich, our potential is even greater.

For many, the friendships formed with other residents and caregivers are lifelong and deeply meaningful. We would like to stay in touch with you and help you maintain important relationships formed while you were with us. If you grew up at 3900 West Broad Street, even if your stay was short, we would love to hear from you. If you were placed with a foster or adoptive family through UMFS, we would love to hear from you.
